Purpose of Classification
The purpose of this classification is to perform semi-skilled general trades work associated with maintenance and repair of City streets, sidewalks, parks, equipment, buildings and related facilities.
The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. The omission of specific statements of duties or functions does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
High school diploma or valid equivalent; and two (2) year previous experience involving landscaping, construction, or general parks maintenance. Must possess (or able to obtain within fourteen (14) days of hire) and maintain a valid Florida driver's license. And must possess or obtain a 30-Hour OSHA General Industry Card within three (3) months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with streets maintenance repairs
Experience with beautification.

Ability to inspect and repair safety hazards in parks, playground structures and related areas.
Ability to operate necessary tools and machinery for maintenance work.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical exert in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involves some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, bright/dim light, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease, or pathogenic substances.
