Business Analyst – Human Resources

Vernon, BC (On-Site)

 

Role Description

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Business Analyst is an intermediate level position and is responsible for documenting business requirements using industry standard techniques and uses critical thinking to identify and solve business issues. This is primarily focused on supporting and optimizing our Human Resource Information System (HRIS). The role will bridge the gap between HR processes and technology, ensuring efficient workflows, accurate reporting, and data-driven decision-making to meet organizational goals. The Business Analyst works closely with project sponsors, users, project managers and Information Services to gather requirements, solve business problems and participates in the implementation of solutions.   

 

Core Responsibilities

Solution Definition

  • Performs fit-gap assessment of solutions to business needs.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on trends and analytics.
  • Participates in the request for proposal and vendor evaluation process.
  • Participates in the acceptance and deployment of business and system solutions.

 

Solution Implementation

  • Translates high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Performs detailed business and system requirements gathering, analysis and verification.
  • Facilitates requirements gathering workshops, interviews and focus groups.
  • Conducts system analysis and design.
  • Defines and executes test strategies, test plans and test cases.
  • Ensure system configurations align with HR and organizational policies as well as comply with applicable data protection regulations.

 

Business Process Improvement

  • Maintain data integrity by performing regular audits and troubleshooting discrepancies.
  • Develop, generate, and analyze HR data reports to support workforce planning, compliance, and business decision-making.
  • Involved in the design or restructuring of business processes.
  • Maps business processes using industry standard tools such as process maps, flow charts, use cases, etc.
  • Participates with various business units to improve business processes.
  • Supports the business stakeholders in the transition from current state to future state.
  • Contributes to the creation of change management deliverables such as communication plans, sponsor roadmap, training plans and resistance management plans.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role within HR Technology and Sytems or in a Human Resource Generalist capacity
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in depth with an enterprise HRIS/HCM system
  • Experience implementing or upgrading HRIS modules in a large organization

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of leading practices, processes and features of an HRIS
  • Experience with large projects in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to propose, document and present approaches and solutions.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization; business user, tester/developer, project manager, business sponsor, senior management.
  • Experience with techniques for gathering and documenting requirements such as, process maps, use cases, system flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
