The UHealth system at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Toxicologist 1 in our Pathology Department.
SUMMARY
Clinical Toxicologist 1 analyzes samples from clinical case samples routinely. The incumbent primarily operates within the toxicology laboratory and tests routine and complex samples using GC-MS and LC–MS/MS and other mass spectrometry instrumentation using SPE and LLE sample preparation techniques. In addition, the clinical toxicologist reviews the patient sample and all QC results.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Analyzes samples from clinical patient samples.
Performs tests on routine and complex samples using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HS-GC-FID, and GC-MS/MS instrumentation and SPE and LLE sample preparation techniques.
Review patient sample results and all QC results.
Analyzes patient samples to detect and quantify drugs, narcotics, poisons, or other controlled substances using instrumental chemical techniques, including (but now limited to) gas and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.
Utilizes software platforms such as ChemStation® and MassHunter® to operate instruments, and Sunquest, UChart, and Microsoft Office.
Performs routine maintenance on instrumentation and equipment. Assists with laboratory quality assurance and quality control functions, including QC tracking and routine laboratory duties.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate degree or higher in a relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Florida Clinical Laboratory Personnel License-Clinical Chemistry Specialty
Experience:
Minimum 0-3 years of relevant experience in a Toxicology/Clinical Chemistry laboratory
