The Role:

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Teach Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on your specialism and experience.
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a range of learning styles and abilities
  • Inspire students to develop a passion for design, technology, and engineering
  • Contribute to the development and enrichment of the D&T curriculum
  • Utilize innovative teaching methodologies and technology to enhance learning
  • Guide students in the design and creation of projects, fostering their problem-solving and practical skills.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the D&T department and across the wider school community
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school initiatives, including design competitions, technology exhibitions, and STEM events.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Possesses a strong background in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a related field, with a relevant degree from a reputable university
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of successful D&T teaching in a secondary school setting
  • Is an enthusiastic and engaging educator with a genuine passion for design and technology and a desire to inspire young minds
  • Has excellent subject knowledge across all key stages and D&T specialisms (e.g., resistant materials, product design, electronics, textiles)
  • Is committed to fostering a love of learning and promoting creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills in all students
  • Possesses excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills
  • Is a reflective practitioner who is committed to continuous professional development
