DescriptionThe Opportunity:
EIT for our Transportation and Infrastructure business as part of our Southern Alberta Bridge Group, located at our Red Deer office. The successful candidate will design, manage delivery and construction supervision of transportation structure projects, including highway and pedestrian bridges, bridge-size culverts, drainage structures, and special projects. Duties include inspection, evaluation, analysis, design, cost estimating, tender preparation, shop drawing review, construction supervision and contract/construction administration.

What you can expect to do here:
- Design and assessment of bridges, culverts, and other civil structures;
- Perform Bridge load evaluation and bridge rehabilitation design
- Conduct bridge inspections and bridge construction supervision;
- Responsible for preparing specifications and contract documents;
- Responsible for reviewing of shop drawings and field review of bridge construction on assigned projects;
- Responsible for reporting and assist in preparation of reports and proposals; and
- Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- Undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university;
- 2+ year demonstrated experience in Canada or North America in the area of structural and/or hydrotechnical design of bridges;
- Should be registered EIT and eligible for professional licensing with APEGA;
- Superior technical understanding, design abilities and current on bridge technologies;
- Working knowledge of structural analysis software used in bridge design such as SAP2000, CSI-bridge, MIDAS, etc.;
- Specific areas of expertise required are in the planning, preliminary and detailed design, and construction of bridges of standard and complex geometry, and culverts. A thorough knowledge of current Canadian design codes and standards is essential;
- Experience with inspection, assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures;
- Experience with field review and inspection during construction;
- Effective Communication and interpersonal skills; and
- A team player with a willingness to help others and collaborating with team members.
