POSITION SUMMARY: The Human Resources Director is responsible for aligning Martis Camp's business objectives with Ambassadors and Management at both the company and department levels. The position formulates partnerships across the organization to deliver value-added service to Management and Ambassadors that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HRD maintains an effective level of business literacy about Martis Camp's labor and Ambassador benefits budgets, long-term employment forecast, its culture, and its recruiting efforts. This role provides shared services for all of Martis Camp’s entities (Club, Community, and Foundation).
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides supervision and direction, including performance development, for assigned Ambassador(s).
Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing thought leadership and input for organizational decision-making impacting Ambassadors.
Serves as a culture champion, incorporating the Martis Camp Promise into all facets of Human Resources work and guiding leaders in strategies for incorporating in other areas of operations.
Manages and resolves complex Ambassador relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of Ambassadors, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal counsel as needed/required.
Consults with management and supervisors, providing HR guidance and interpretation.
Provides support with Ambassador coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, etc.
Works closely with Management and Ambassadors to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
Provides guidance and input on department restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
Identifies and coordinates training needs for the company, departments, and individuals.
Participates in the evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
Maintains all records, processes, and policies as required by law.
Acts as Benefit Representative in all areas: worker’s compensation, Ambassador insurance, leaves of absence, benefits, perks, etc.
Manages all Leaves of Absence from initial paperwork through a return to work.
Enrolls and maintains all changes with benefits carriers, including 401(k).
Report all Worker’s Comp claims within the required timeframe and liaise with the adjuster, Ambassador, and Ambassador’s department head for the duration of the claim, working to support injured Ambassadors and bring claims to resolution as quickly as possible.
Ensure that OSHA logs are maintained and posted as required by law.
Submits annual EEO-1 and California Pay Data reporting annually.
Assists Work Comp auditor with the annual audit.
Assist Directors in understanding Martis Camp policy and California Labor Law.
Assists Directors in preparing and delivering disciplinary actions; serving as a gatekeeper to ensure company policies and procedures are being followed consistently.
Drafts employment and termination letters for COO review. Interview and provide feedback regarding all exempt hires.
Creates and maintains Ambassador personnel files in an organized, timely, and confidential manner.
Responsible for maintaining the Ambassador handbook, policies, and guidelines.
Coordinates and supports onboarding processes for new Ambassadors.
Supports Work Visa processes (e.g., H2B, J1) in collaboration with department Directors.
Coordinates all recruiting for open positions. Posts internal and external job ads, partnering with Communications in the development of recruiting collateral.
Manages and communicates the Ambassador Benefits including insurance, PTO, retirement plan initiation, as well as any other fringe benefit (e.g., fitness bonus). Provides recommendations for program changes as appropriate to ensure Martis Camp’s status as an employer of choice, to minimize costs, and/or to further operational goals.
Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures the organization's compliance.
Must be available in case of employment emergencies.
Any other duties as needed to improve safety and assist fellow Ambassadors in fulfilling Martis Camp’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND LICENSES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years in a Human Resources management position resolving complex employee relations issues.
Thorough knowledge of State and Federal laws governing Human Resources practices
