Job Description

American Iron & Metal is looking to add a Dispatcher to join our growing logistics team. As an AIM dispatcher, the candidate will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to all accounts while scheduling company drivers to service customers. This is a fast-paced dynamic environment that requires the ability to problem solve and will provide the chance for learning every day. This will be an afternoon shift from 2:30-11pm

What you're responsible for: 

  • Distributing and coordinating customer service calls. 
  • Communicating between scale operators, yard operations and drivers. 
  • Directing trucks and providing detailed feedback to scale on quality of material. 
  • Monitoring driver hours within provincial compliance regulations. 
  • Tracking incoming and outgoing orders 
  • Ensuring safe operation process and procedures are directed and followed. 

Qualifications

  • Previous dispatch experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, excel and word
  • Strong professionalism and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and objectively
  • Ability to perform at a high level in a high-pressure fast paced environment
  • Ability to adapt to change and multitask
  • Ability to plan efficient routes based off customers pickup requests
  • Organized and detailed oriented

Additional Qualification Preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of fleet dispatching experience. 
  • Roll-off and Lugger knowledge preferred. 
  • Knowledge of border crossing and paperwork processes is an asset. 
  • Knowledge of MTO Rules and Regulations. 
  • Knowledge of various types of truck and trailer combinations.
