What you will do:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks as well as executing new projects as needed and coordinating 3rd party Facility Maintenance services. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, etc.). Performs general cleaning and other tasks as assigned.

Detailed Description of Duties:

  • Serves as the main contact for requests for basic maintenance, upkeep and repair for a privately owned building/property housing an office / warehouse workplace setting
  • Provides maintenance/repair of minor electrical/plumbing, HVAC, painting, routine carpentry work and furnishings.
  • Replacing worn or defective parts as needed, and within budget.
  • Responsible for large equipment maintenance and repair, including but not limited to: forklifts, recycle-baler, air compressor, pallet jacks, backup generator, etc.
  • Assists with setups for special events for furniture and displays.
  • Utilizes 3rd party software tools to read, respond to, track and report on facilities work needed, performed and scheduled for completion.
  • In conjunction with the reporting Manager, this position oversees the activities of 3rd party vendors providing maintenance services. Ensuring work expected is performed, documentation and invoicing is accurate, and vendors adhere to company policy for escorted visits while on site.
  • In conjunction with the reporting Manager, this position works within the limits of a monthly spend allowance for facility maintenance and repair.
  • This role is able to price compare and make appropriate on-line purchases to support repairs and maintenance for the facility.
  • Must be able to maintain forklift operator’s license
  • Other duties may be assigned specific to the location needs.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.

Requirements:

Employees must possess and be able to comply with the following:

  • Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to good (1 - 3 years) construction or facility maintenance trades experience or High School Diploma/GED Required
  • Possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License (DMV records in good standing and will be verified)
  • Display a sense of pride in the facility and in keeping it pristine in appearance.
  • Remain positive and professional in all interactions.
  • Experience in use of simple maintenance tools and machinery; skilled in making simple repairs.
  • Ensures proper care and maintenance to extend the life of all company tools and machinery.
  • Employs an attitude of working safely able to follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety procedures.
  • Employee must regularly lift or move up to 75 lbs., with occasional need to be able to move weights greater than 75 lbs. using a hand truck, pulley or other mechanical device.
  • Works at elevations greater than ten feet while repairing or maintaining building structures. Climbs ladders or steps to reach objects.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions of cold or hot /humid conditions. There may be occasional exposure to fumes from paint or airborne particles; risk of electrical shocks from replacing light bulbs or minor electrical wiring.
  • The company provides personal protective equipment if necessary.
  • Can do team attitude with the ability to take direction and assist others on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and work well with others.
  • Be able to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment, drug, and background screening

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  • Ability to push/lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
  • Working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection
  • Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints
  • The noise level in the work environment does not typically exceed 70 dba.
