Carnegie Mellon University’s UEIS division is searching for a Financial Analyst to join their team. This is a two-year opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. The newly-unified UEIS division at Carnegie Mellon University includes University Libraries and Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation; The Entertainment Technology Center; the Integrated Design, Arts and Technology program; and university sustainability initiatives. This position is eligible for remote work. 

The financial analyst will oversee historical financial data gathering and analysis, review financial workflows and procedures for all areas, and make recommendations for future account structures, business practices, and reporting for the division.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Historical financial data collection and analysis
  • Financial workflow and process review
  • Creation of report structures within Oracle EPM and between division units in collaboration with Chief Business Officer
  • Identification and recommendation of possible efficiencies between departments
  • Documentation of financial procedures and workflows
  • Development of centralized information/reference pages for UEIS employees regarding financial workflows, timelines, and policies

You should demonstrate:

  • Experience with financial systems, databases, and Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information
  • Exceptional organization, planning, and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and recommend changes to policies, practices, and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or similar degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of financial and/or business management experience
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with financial or business management in a higher education setting
  • Experience working with gift and endowed accounts
  • Experience working with Oracle financial management system
  • Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Excel pivot tables, Power BI, Tableau, etc.
