Full time Retail Security Guard

Are you ready to suit up?

We are looking for a full time security guard to work in a retail client's store in Hamilton. As a member of the GardaWorld team, your primary role is to ensure the safety and security of the client assets, tenants and visitors to the assigned area in a professional and courteous manner. It is full time position with 40 hours/week and requires availability 7 days a week, as the shift fluctuates. The pay is 17/hour. 

What you’ll be doing

• Provide excellent customer service to everyone on the property


• Access control and maintain social distancing within the retail store


• Ensure loss prevention and theft prevention


• Assist visitors, guests and the retail's staff with respect to safety, requests for directions, escorts, package transportation, lost vehicles, etc.


• Apply property rules and regulations in a fair and responsible manner


• Write daily and incident reports


• Intervene during medical emergencies and provide first aid


• Facilitate access to authorized persons to restricted areas


• Answer and follow up on phone calls received by the security service


• Monitor the fire alarm system and fire extinguisher system

What we’re looking for

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Possession of a valid provincial security guard licence


• First aid and CPR certification


• Strong customer service skills


• Strong oral and written communication skills


• Available to work shift work, including weekends and overnight as required


• Ability to exercise sound judgment under stressful situations


• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team environment


• Knowledge of criminal, provincial and federal laws as they pertain to the security industry


• Loss prevention and theft prevention training (asset)
