POSITION

We are seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to join our team as an In-House Long-Term Substitute Teacher. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on student learning while supporting our core teaching staff. The In-House Long-Term Substitute Teacher will work on an as-needed/per-project basis depending on staff vacancies and/or absences. We recognize that the number one factor impacting student achievement is quality, presence, and effectiveness of every teacher within the classroom. We find it crucial to recruit, develop, support and retain great educators as the key to the success of our students and the network. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Classroom Management: Effectively manage student behavior and create a positive learning environment in accordance with school policies and procedures. Implement behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Instructional Delivery: Develop lesson plans using the network-adopted subject-specific curriculum and state standards, adapting as needed to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and promote critical thinking. Grade assignments and student work based on rubrics in accordance with school policies.
  • Communication: Maintain open and professional communication with students, parents, and school staff. Provide timely and informative feedback to students on their work.
  • Supervision: Oversee student safety and well-being during class time, recess, and lunch periods. Enforce school rules and procedures consistently.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the school's administrative and support staff. Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other teachers to ensure continuity of instruction.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development and staff meetings to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. Stay current on best practices in education and child development.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete necessary administrative tasks such as taking attendance, collecting and distributing homework, and maintaining classroom organization.
  • Student Support: Provide individual and small group support to students as needed. Identify and address student academic and social-emotional needs.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Be familiar with and follow school emergency procedures, including lockdown, fire drills, and evacuation plans.

Perform other duties, as assigned.

  • Knowledge of public education and charter school movement, preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Substitute permit or higher in the corresponding field or willingness to seek permit/credentialing if not already credentialed.
  • 1+ years of experience working at school sites or experience working with children/youth, preferred. 
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to build rapport with students.
  • Demonstrated mastery of subject matter.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle various grade levels and subject areas.
  • Ability to follow established routines and procedures.
  • Previous experience in charter schools, preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to twenty pounds.
  • Ability to access and navigate various facilities within the organization.

Compensation

The daily salary range for this position is $315 - $325. Salary is commensurate with experience, education, and expertise. A competitive benefits package is also offered. 

This is a temporary (with possibility of long-term hire), exempt, 100% in-person position.
