The Junior Piping Designer use well established engineering principles and procedures to provide basic design, drafting, and technical support. The position is responsible for preparation of drawings, with the assistance of senior personnel as to methods, standards, and source data. This position possesses a working level of competence in computer design and drafting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carries out basic tasks, under supervision, related to layout and design of process equipment modules for oil and gas processing facilities
- Assists in general updates to established models piping designs
- Assists in general updates to established designs of structural steel skids and pipe supports
- Revises existing designs based on vendor drawings and changes from stress analysis updates
- Assists in the creation of layout drawings and detailing of piping
- Assists in general updates to piping isometrics, structural drawings, and other various fabrication drawings
- Receives and incorporates design data and vendor information
- Assists in calculating piping components and pre-orders materials
- Receives and incorporates design specifics from Engineering and other disciplines
- Collaborates with Piping Checkers, Mechanical Engineering, and Fabrication Shop
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Engineering Design Drafting Technology (EDDT), or Process Piping Design (PPD) certificate, or recognized equivalent combination of training and experience in process piping design
- Entry level position - no previous work experience is required
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2020 or higher
- Strong skills in Cadworx 2020 or higher
- Fabrication shop designing experience is an asset
- Understanding of design and drafting practices for piping components
- Knowledge and familiarity of Navisworks
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office
