ð What You’ll Do
As a Senior Environmental Scientist – GC-MS, you’ll lead advanced environmental analyses, mentor team members, and drive laboratory excellence.
Advanced GC-MS Analysis
- Perform complex environmental analyses using GC-MS for Volatile Organics, Semi-Volatile Organics, Herbicides, Pesticides, and PCBs.
- Develop and optimize methods to ensure compliance with EPA standards for precise, reliable results.
Mentorship and Leadership
- Train and mentor junior analysts and technicians, fostering a culture of professional growth and excellence.
- Share technical expertise and uphold high-quality standards in all processes.
Laboratory Operations
- Conduct routine and complex analyses, ensuring adherence to SOPs and QA/QC protocols.
- Log, label, and prepare samples using the LIMS system and maintain organized workflows.
Instrument Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot GC-MS and GC instruments.
- Coordinate with vendors for repairs and ensure optimal equipment performance.
Data Management and Reporting
- Perform Level I & II data reviews to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare detailed reports and communicate findings effectively to clients and internal teams.
Quality Assurance/Compliance
- Implement robust QA/QC protocols to maintain accreditation and uphold industry standards.
- Identify and resolve non-conformances with the Lab Manager and QAM.
ð What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (Advanced degrees preferred).
- Experience:
- 5+ years in an environmental or analytical laboratory setting.
- Extensive hands-on experience with GC-MS and GC instrumentation.
- Strong familiarity with EPA methods and environmental testing protocols.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in LIMS and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong data interpretation, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
Soft Skills
- Effective leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
