The City of Beaverton is accepting applications for Lateral Police Officers. Come join a community-supported and accredited agency committed to innovation, compassion, and a dedication to serving the culturally rich community of Beaverton.
Police officers require the ability to learn a considerable amount of factual material such as laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances and procedures, understand sometimes complex oral and written instructions, act effectively and calmly in emergency situations, operate assigned equipment skillfully and safely, prepare clear, concise yet comprehensive reports, analyze situations quickly and objectively, work effectively with the public, other agencies, and other employees.

This recruitment is open continuously and applications will be reviewed regularly. Qualified applicants will be invited for a written exam and physical agility test. Eligible applicants who pass the written exam and physical agility test will be scheduled for oral boards. Final applicants will be required to pass a rigorous background examination, and any job offer will be contingent upon passing a medical exam, drug screen, and psychological evaluation.
To apply:
Please click APPLY to submit your application via the City of Beaverton’s online portal. You will need to fill out your work history and respond to several supplemental questions. Your education, skills, and experience will be evaluated using the main application form and supplemental questions; a resume and cover letter are not required and do not substitute for a complete application and work history.
Minimum qualifications:
Wage rate: $36.00 - $48.23 hourly
