TRAINING OPPORTUNITY





Qualification/Eligibility criteria :  
 
• Must be accepted and enrolled in the NorQuest College Ortho LPN Program 
• Active registration in good standing with BC College for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) 
• Active employment as an LPN in an acute care site for a minimum of 3600 hours
• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent Resident (temporary Work Visas are not eligible). 
 
Practicum/work experience requirements:
 
Before you attend your clinical practice, you will need: 
• To successfully complete both on-line prerequisite courses.  This is to be done outside of clinical work hours 
• Clinical Lab – 1 week in person clinical lab in Norquest College
• 8 week (300 hour) clinical practicum
 
If candidate does not successfully complete all requirements, then they will be required to reimburse VCH for tuition and book fees. 








Salary






The salary range for this position is CAD $32.84/Hr. - CAD $41.35/Hr.

As an LPN at Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  •  Work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team performs full scope of practical nursing functions as outlined by BCCNM and as permitted by the employer for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
  • Be responsible for activities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision, supports the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Maintain and advances clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licenced Practical Nurses.








Qualifications






Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses, plus successful completion of recognized, formal post-basic education in advanced orthopedics for LPNs.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work pursuant to the standards of practice under the BCCNM.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
