A private school in Southern California is looking for a Manager of Human Resources (Education) to direct and assist management in all matters related to personnel. 


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and oversee all HR functions within a Christian education setting. This role ensures our school’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, while supporting our mission to foster a Christ-centered community. The HR Manager will collaborate closely with school leadership to manage staffing, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR policy development, creating a positive and efficient workplace that aligns with our faith-based values.


The Work:
  • Partner with school leadership to identify and address recruitment needs, ensuring timely and effective hiring in support of Christian education.
  • Develop recruitment strategies to attract diverse, qualified staff who share the school’s Christian values, from educators to administrative personnel.
  • Manage onboarding processes for new hires, ensuring smooth transitions for all staff, including teachers, coaches, and support staff, while emphasizing the integration of Christian principles into the workplace.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of job descriptions and compensation packages for all employees.
  • Provide guidance and support to department managers regarding employee life cycle management, including recruitment, benefits, disciplinary matters, and workplace safety, in line with the school’s mission and values.
  • Monitor compliance with employment laws and regulations, updating policies and handbooks as necessary to maintain best practices.
  • Handle employee exits and benefits management, including annual open enrollment for all benefit programs.
  • Assist with other HR-related duties as required by the organization’s needs.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to fostering a Christ-centered work environment aligned with the organization’s Christian mission and values.
  • Passionate about contributing to a Christian educational institution and helping build a supportive, faith-driven community.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism in managing sensitive employee matters in line with Christian principles.


What you've already done (requirements):
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience with benefit administration, including retirement plans (403b) and compliance with filing requirements such as the 5500 form.
  • Proficiency with HR software systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in HR management, with a preference for candidates with experience in educational, especially within Christian education.
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization while promoting a Christ-centered environment.
  • Ability to perform duties involving extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials may be required.
