Multimedia Journalist
KET is Kentucky’s only statewide media organization, serving more than two million people each week with programs and services that educate, inform, and inspire. As the Multimedia Journalist, the individual selected for this role will produce, shoot, write, edit, and report on events relevant to KET’s mission to deliver educational content across the state.
Our ideal Candidate will:
Initiate and develop story ideas or execute content assignments including shooting, writing, editing, and reportingshort-form packages daily, and long-form packages under tight deadlines.
Oversee all content elements and coordinate and execute all aspects of assigned productions including researching, developing, and writing production proposals, and conducting pre-production meetings with content experts.
Oversee all aspects of post-production including graphics creation, color correction, and audio post. Accurately log and categorize all program and raw footage files for digital archiving.
Prepare and maintain records necessary for production, broadcast, and digital use including facilities requests, budgets, rights, contracts, music cue sheets, releases, copyright information, operational records, and reports.
Produce promotional spots for assigned productions; provide accurate and timely information to the Coordinating Producer for the Marketing and Traffic departments. Oversee and package program deliverables according to established formats required by KET, NETA, APT, or PBS.
Contribute content across multiple platforms, strengthening digital capacity. Contribute to and execute the creative and editorial vision of KET productions.
Effectively collaborate with team members on equipment by sharing skills, knowledge, and production processes. Seek and participate in training opportunities related to production, videography, editing or other processes as applicable.
Demonstrate dedication to diversity in areas of responsibility.
Successful applicants will have the following minimum qualifications, skills, and experience:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field plus a minimum of two (2) years of television production experience preferred. Practical experience in television may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience with professional video cameras is required.
Editing experience and directing finishing edit sessions are required.
Must have strong computer, writing, oral communications, and interpersonal skills.
Must be available on a flexible schedule and for weekend and overnight travel.
Occasionally move/lift/carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license to drive KET vehicles.
