As a Paralegal III in our Home Lending Originations Legal Department, you will spend your day assisting attorneys and supporting various partners within the Home Lending business. You will be able to act autonomously as a subject matter expert in the various reviews performed on mortgage loan files. You will have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence their peers. In this role, you will continuously seek opportunities to develop new skills, maintain an open mind, and a keen intellectual curiosity.

Job Responsibilities



  • Provide support to the originations attorneys who support home lending originations by performing daily loan level legal reviews to confirm JPMorgan Chase’s first lien position when extending a mortgage loan to a customer     

  • Develop expertise in identifying the impacts when property is titled in the trustees of a trust or members of an LLC to provide clear, consistent and comprehensive guidance to business partners 

  • Understand and provide guidance to the Home Lending line of business teams on matters that impact real property and title vesting such as guardianships, conservatorships, powers of attorney, co-operatives, condominiums and marital terminations to provide clear, consistent and comprehensive guidance to business partners 

  • Understand and provide corrective actions for title defects impacting JPMorgan Chase’s lien position or title defects impacting customers 

  • Actively contribute to the success of the team through team collaboration 

  • Provide support to the Home Lending Originations legal team with special projects, escalated matters and state law research   

  • Lead team projects and serve as a subject matter expert for an assigned legal review


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills



  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a paralegal 

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from a recognized paralegal program

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in team environments and work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders

  • Display strong analytical, organization, time-management and communication skills 

  • Display initiative and self-direction including problem-solving

  • Possess legal research skills

  • Ability to adapt to change effectively and exercise sound judgment 


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills



  • Experience as a paralegal with a mortgage company or bank 

  • Knowledge of mortgage title insurance and real property law
