Overview
The plumber performs both preventive and corrective maintenance functions that includes, but is not limited to, toilets, sinks, drains, well house, small electrical repair and HVAC. This position is primary in plant and equipment preventive maintenance and assists the Supervisor with building safety inspection. Performs corrective maintenance through work order requests. Rotates on the after hours on- call schedule. Performs all the above-mentioned duties while following RHS and RWRH policy and procedure. Performs all other duties as assigned.
What you will do
- Installs, repairs, and replaces plumbing fixtures including sinks, faucets, toilets, vacuum systems, Acorn systems (if applicable), and pipes. Installs, repairs, replaces, and maintains the heating hot water supply/return piping, domestic hot/cold water piping, gravity sewer piping, forced sewage main lines, sewage lift stations, rain leader/storm piping, and low-pressure steam/condensate piping. Install, repairs, and maintains boilers, steam systems, and associated equipment. Plans the installation of new plumbing by reading blueprints/schematics to determine how and where to place the piping. Clear obstructions from water and sewer lines, repair minor leaks as needed. Monitors and replenishes maintenance inventory based. Coordinates with Lead Plumber for outside contractors and sub-contractors as required to accomplish maintenance, which may include procuring parts and services. Ability to solder, sweat and braze.
- Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs ensuring the beautification and upkeep of the Facility. Perform preventative maintenance inspections/tasks per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner and document maintenance concerns/resolutions; providing action plans and status reports as needed. Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicates this to a Maintenance Supervisor. Has a general knowledge of DNV, NFPA, AADMS, ADA, OSHA, local, state and federal codes, requirements or regulations and is in accordance with Riverside policies and procedures. Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, mask, hearing protection, and gloves as needed.
- Operate and maintain a variety of work-related tools and equipment such as plumbers torch, hand auger, snake machine, power saws, drills, air compressors, generators, and various hand tools required for Plumbing work. Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials, and work area.
- Performs/Assists co-workers outside of related skill when required during manning short falls or in an Emergency situation to include but not limited to: General Facility Maintenance, Electrical, and/or Heating/Air Conditioning work. Snow Removal. Assist other departments/units in times of Disaster.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Preferred)
- Program Graduate, 1 years of approved apprenticeship completed (Preferred)
Experience
- 2 years Commercial or Residential Plumbing Experience (Preferred)
- 2 years Pipe fitting experience (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to operate a computer and use computer software
Licenses and Certifications
- Board for Contractor Tradesman - Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation within 3 Years(Required)
- Operates company vehicles as essential function of the job
- Valid Drivers License Required
