About this role

Responsible for defining, developing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining new and existing software and web applications in support of achieving business requirements. This includes application development, design, architecture, research, and implementation of front-end and back-end web applications, application programming interface (API), database interfaces, and cloud-based web services.

What a day of a Programmer Analyst II looks like:

  • Designs, develops, and maintains custom web applications, API’s and web services for mobile and desktop environments using a variety of languages and platforms such as C#, Active Server Pages Network Enabled Technologies (ASP.NET), React, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and SQL.

  • Analyzes user requirements, and determines technical level of effort required for new and existing applications.  Ensures that development projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfills end-user requirements, and identifies and resolves systems issues.

  • Writes programming scripts to enhance functionality or performance of company applications as necessary. Writes, translates, and codes software programs and applications according to specifications.

  • Manages, designs, develops, and installs new web applications, and enhancements to existing web applications throughout the college.

  • Reviews and analyzes existing application effectiveness and efficiency. Develops strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.

  • Liaises with vendors for efficient implementation of new software products or systems and for resolution of any adaptation issues.

  • Selects and implements the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support data technology goals.

  • Revises code, troubleshoots bugs, tests fixes, and verifies functionality based on customer needs or feedback.

  • Collaborates with the data architecture to ensure data is accessible and available for new and existing web applications.

  • Maintains current knowledge of field or profession. Travels to training workshops, conferences, meetings, and professional events outside of college locations, as needed.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Four years of related experience

Knowledge of:

  • Various .net programming languages including C#

  • Web application development

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

Skilled in:                

  • Using APIs with third party applications to import or export data across environments

  • Fact finding and analysis with a strong proficiency in use of applications to extract data and prepare meaningful analyses

  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management

Ability to:

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service

  • Research information for problem solving

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

  • Regular physical attendance required

Preferred, but not required:

Education and Experience:

  • Experience with programming React or similar JavaScript library codes

Knowledge of:

  • Database design and SQL Query (stored procedure) writing 

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

  • Microsoft .net Programming or Development Certification

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

  • Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 pounds

  • Reach and grasp objects

  • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Use of video display terminal

  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills

  • Communicate information orally and in writing

  • Receive and understand information through oral and written communication

  • Proofread and check documents for accuracy

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $55,208.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
