DESCRIPTION OF WORK


As a Revenue Tax Auditor, you will be conducting fair, equitable, and efficient audits in the sales and use tax audit program to determine compliance with applicable Commonwealth of Pennsylvania laws and regulations. You will have the opportunity to work alongside auditors in the office and at a taxpayer’s location, gathering preliminary information, contacting taxpayers to schedule audits, assisting in the pre-audit conference, examining and analyzing financial records to determine compliance, and assisting in the post-audit conference.
 
This position will require travel throughout the commonwealth and may also include travel out-of-state for periods of time up to two weeks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Revenue Tax Auditor Trainee program (Commonwealth title); or
  • One year of professional accounting or auditing experience and a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 15 college credits in accounting, tax, or auditing; or
  • Eligibility to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
