Position Overview:
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills, a deep understanding of automated testing frameworks, and experience with video technologies. As an SDET, you will develop and maintain automation solutions, ensuring the quality, performance, and scalability of our products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts, frameworks, and tools to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of media distribution systems.
- Work closely with software engineers to define testable code and integrate automated testing early in the development lifecycle.
- Write code and automated tests for new features, ensuring scalability, robustness, and high performance.
- Develop automated solutions for unit, integration, API, and end-to-end testing.
- Collaborate with QA engineers, developers, and product managers to create test plans, define test cases, and identify quality benchmarks.
- Conduct performance testing of products and analyze results to identify areas for optimization as well as develop proof of concept.
- Act as a key player in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless integration of automated testing.
- Contribute to ongoing test infrastructure improvements, suggesting tools and processes that enhance efficiency.
Qualifications:
Must Haveβs:
- Bachelor's degree or higher education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software development and testing, with a focus on test automation for video pipelines and applications.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, Go etc.
- Prior experience with video technologies such as streaming protocols (e.g., HLS, DASH), codecs (e.g. MPEG2, H264), DRM, and content delivery networks (CDNs).
- Familiarity with video analysis tools (e.g. Dektec, TSReader, TSDuck) and techniques.
- Expertise in one or more test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, TestNG) and scripting languages (e.g. Shell, Bash).
Nice to Haveβs:
- Practical knowledge of the OSI model and networking concepts especially those used for video delivery over IP, e.g. VLAN, UDP, RTP, Multicast, Route table.
- Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) and security testing practices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker) is a plus.
- Experience working with cloud technologies with a focus on testing distributed micro-service-based cloud native applications.
- Resides east of the GTA, preferably in the Durham region.
