The Team


 


The Software Development team designs, builds, and maintains the critical software solutions BCLC leverages to drive our business.  We are a group of hands-on technology professionals who bring together a diverse and complementary skill set. From enterprise systems to eGaming, and in all parts of our cutting-edge tech stack, we collaborate and innovate to ensure the highest standards of technical integrity for the software that powers the games our players love.


 


The team is part of the larger Digital Enablement group within the Business Technology division. Joining Business Technology at BCLC means you’ll be working with cutting-edge technology to help build a world-class entertainment company. This is an engaged, innovative, capable group of talented individuals working in digital enablement, product delivery services, technology platform enablement, enterprise services, integrity and operations. This enables us to execute the purchase and validation of lottery tickets at over 3500 lottery retailers, manage a complex network of 12,000 slot machines and electronic table games across the province and provide the backbone for BCLC’s iGaming platform, and much more.

 


The Role




The Software Developer 3 – AEM Content Management is an experienced hands-on expert in software development design, implementation and lifecycle, with a focus on delivering business results through content management on Adobe’s AEM as a Cloud Service CMS.  They lead the team in navigating the technical complexities of leveraging AEM at scale, applying their expertise to lead technical decision making and implementation of BCLC’s web properties on AEM, including our iGaming platform. Reporting to the Capability Manager, Software Development, this highly experienced professional leads the implementation design process and ensures that our teams have the guidance and guardrails needed to meet product business requirements in both the short and long term. This role collaborates with technical and business stakeholders as well as colleagues across the Software Development capability to ensure that the results we deliver on AEM support BCLC’s business goals, both in functionality and in scalability, performance, and maintainability.


 


What you will accomplish



  • As a subject matter expert, you will enable our marketing and software product teams to design, build, and maintain web pages and applications on Adobe AEM as a Cloud Service, providing strategic direction and guiding architectural decisions

  • As a technical lead, you will align with product leadership, enterprise architects, and peers from other teams to build and evolve best practices and lead by example to foster understanding, decrease friction, and eliminate roadblocks to delivery

  • You will bring your lessons learned and keen business acumen to support sound technical decision-making that enables BCLC’s revenue delivery and operational objectives on AEM as a Cloud Service

  • You will share your experience, advance your craft, and level up our code quality with collaborative approaches to training and mentorship including pair programming and thorough code and design reviews

  • You will lead the creation and maintenance of documentation of architectures and design decisions to facilitate onboarding, knowledge sharing, and support needs


 


What will make you successful



  • You have deep professional expertise designing, implementing, and maintaining web sites and applications using content management systems such as Adobe’s AEM

  • You are keenly aware of the business goals that drive investment in an enterprise CMS and how to achieve them

  • You are highly experienced in building, deploying, and maintaining web-based cloud-first applications coded in Java and Vue or similar technologies

  • You deeply understand software design and implementation principles, and proactively work to level up your team’s practices

  • You take a hands-on approach to technical leadership, and a collaborative results-focused engagement style with business stakeholders

  • You are generous with your knowledge and experience, mentoring team members in their technical skill development and exchanging knowledge and feedback with peers, leadership, and cross-functional colleagues

  • You are driven to work with your team and the Software Development capability to continuously improve software delivery processes

  • You deeply understand and lead by example in the mindsets and communication practices required to work successfully on a cross-functional agile product team

  • Developers successful in this role traditionally have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 4-6 years of professional software development experience.

  • Expertise in secure coding and web application security best practices

  • Experience designing and implementing web-based applications in a cloud-first AWS environment
