What will you do as an Software Developer in Test II?

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is involved in all stages of the software development process. During requirements and design phases, the SDET ensures that all software changes are testable and have well defined success criteria. During implementation phases, the SDET creates software tests that exercises the key criteria ensuring quality on an ongoing basis.

The SDET implements new test automation systems, and ensures that the tests are run during automated build and deployment phases. The SDET also manually executes testing for non-automatable requirements.

In the Vision Software team the SDET is responsible for development of automated tests for various software components within the team’s responsibility, including measurement algorithms, 3D data acquisition pipeline, robotics and other 3rd party integrations. 

A successful candidate will also be responsible for development of various software tools and scripts as well as a wide range of general testing, data collection and analysis tasks. 

This position will apply company knowledge to meet well established project deliverables. The SDET position routinely applies their skills to design, develop, test, document, and deliver against requirements and specifications. 

Responsibilities:

  • Works with other developers to design tests for all software requirements, effectively and on-time.
  • Writes and maintains software tests and testing scripts for measurement tools, 3D data acquisition algorithms as well as other software components within Vision team’s responsibility.
  • Performs manual tests while rigorously broadening automated test coverage.
  • Assists other developers in debugging test failures.
  • Performs peer review of code.
  • Maintains test automation and continuous integration scripts.
  • Curates and expands the library of testing data and hardware.
  • Investigates new and improved testing methodologies as part of the continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supports multiple concurrent projects at a time.
  • Adheres to LMI Employee Policy Manual.

What do you need to be successful?

  • 2-3+ years of relevant experience working as a software test engineer.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar disciplines.
  • Programming experience in C++, C, Python.
  • Strong mathematics background, experience working with machine vision software are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience planning tests, defining test scope and identifying functional, performance, and robustness test criteria.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks.
  • Experienced with source control management systems such as Git or SVN.
  • Ability to work independently in a multi disciplinary team.
  • Strong DevOps experience a plus.

BC/CALIFORNIA ROLES ONLY | Salary Range: $77,193 - $88,000 - $100,320

Expected Salary: Our typical hiring range will be +/- 10% of the midpoint listed above. Factors influencing this decision include qualifications and market conditions for the role.
