Solicitor - Private Client Charity

Perfect Hire Recruitment Limited

On-site
London, City of London, United Kingdom

Our Charities practice is part of our Private Client department, where all Partners provide advice to charities and their trustees, as well as to private clients on philanthropic giving and testamentary wishes. You will assist Partners in providing this advice, alongside offering more general estate planning advice and preparing testamentary documents.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Department: Work closely with the firm's Corporate Department on matters related to a charity’s commercial engagement, brand exploitation, GDPR, and data protection.
  • Charity Registration and Compliance: Handle applications to register charities in the UK, provide advice on regulatory and compliance issues, and deal with charity land, special endowments, mergers, and restructuring of schemes.
  • Handle Complaints: Assist with bringing and rebutting complaints and making applications to the Charity Commission.
  • Manage Cross-Border Issues: Be aware of cross-border issues affecting charities and liaise with advisors in other jurisdictions as needed.
  • Advise on Tax Matters: Provide advice on inheritance tax, capital gains tax, income tax, Gift Aid issues (including mitigation strategies), VAT, and SDLT, in collaboration with the Department’s trust and tax team.
