Job Summary/Description:  


KWQC is searching for a sports storyteller to join our team. Covering the stories of the Quad Cities and surrounding areas, bringing sports fans and the community alike together. High School sports and local colleges are the primary teams we cover including the Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones and the Fighting Illini. We also cover the John Deere Classic PGA event and the Bix 7 road race. If you love late nights, a fast pace, and stories about people, we want to hear from you. Experience a plus.


Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


- Produce and anchor weekend sports in evening newscasts
- Sports storytelling each day
- Fill-in opportunities for weekday sports anchoring.
- The ability to operate a camera is essential


The ideal candidate will interface with the KWQC sports director, assignment editor, and newsroom managers to enhance and maximize our coverage opportunities.


Furthermore, with a DMA covering counties in two states, a successful sports anchor/reporter will build strategies for effectively covering the stories from high school athletics in Iowa & Illinois.

Qualifications/Requirements:


- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
- Demonstrated mastery of digital and social media strategy
- Basic understanding of Windows-based electronics and the ability to learn ENPS as well as new systems as they are implemented.
- Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts
