Deacon Construction is a dynamic and growth-oriented company in the construction sector, dedicated to building infrastructure and projects that make a difference in our communities. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team.


 


Job Summary:


As an Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing and processing financial information vital to our construction projects. You will work closely with senior accountants and project managers to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with industry standards.


 


Key Responsibilities:



  • Maintain and update accounting records and files with project expenses, ledgers, and other financial documentation.

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings.

  • Support the budgeting process by gathering historical data and assisting with expense forecasting.

  • Collaborate with project managers to track project costs and ensure alignment with budgets.

  • Process invoices, payments, and ensuring accuracy and timely completion.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and standards, as well as relevant construction industry regulations.

  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary information and documentation.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency.


 


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and handle multiple tasks.

  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing and reporting.

  • Interest in the construction industry and willingness to learn industry-specific financial practices.
