JOB SUMMARY: Delivers small group instruction in the area of math or reading under the direct supervision of the regular classroom teacher. Tutor will share student’s progress with the supervising teacher throughout the school year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor degree in education or related field preferred; associates degree, 48 credits or the Maryland qualifying score on the ParaPro test required
Must have good oral and written communication skills
Pleasant and professional manner
Ability to work with children of varying cognitive abilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide one-on-one tutoring for eligible students, if the tutoring is schedule at time when a student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher.
Will utilize a push in or pullout model for students, based on individual needs.
Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
Assesses students on an ongoing basis, both formally and informally; will use school based diagnostic assessments to attain student levels.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal, Reading, Math and/or Teacher Specialist.
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 5 hours per day Pay rate: $21.30/hour **This is a part time non benefited position. Hours are not to exceed 29 per week**
