About the role


We have an exciting opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of our patients.  The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for developing and leading a volunteer service whose key focus is to support our hospital services and community services in palliative care.  Our volunteers support our patients by providing social support, happy hour trolley, coffee carts, writing our patients life stories, transport, admin, pet therapy etc.


This permanent part-time position working 15.2 hours per week either 2 days per week or shorter hours across 3 days per week based at Neringah Hospital - Wahroonga.

Duties include:



  • Working with multidisciplinary teams to build a volunteer service that compliments the needs of HammondCare service and patients

  • Attracting, recruiting and onboarding volunteers, matching their interests with suitable opportunities

  • Managing and mentoring volunteers, supporting them with both online and onsite face-to-face training as well as coordinating social volunteer events

  • Maintaining accurate records in our volunteer database (Salesforce) and following established processes and guidelines for Volunteer Services  


About you:



  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action

  • Demonstrated experience in an Administration/ Coordination position

  • Demonstrated experience where relationship building is a prominent component of your role

  • Leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with others

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build rapport quickly and work with people at all levels

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong influencing skills

  • Preferred experience in recruitment particularly of volunteers

  • Intermediate MS Office skills, familiar with teams

  • Empathic and compassionate
