As one of Australia’s most innovative health and aged care providers, we aim to set the global standard of relationship-based care for people with complex needs. HammondCare provides care primarily through hospitals, residential care homes and home-based care as well as services for dementia support, community palliative care, rehabilitation, positive aging and older persons’ mental health.
For over 90 years, HammondCare has relied on volunteers to help provide relationship-based care. Today we have over 800 valued volunteers who make a world of difference by dedicating their time each week.
About the role
The Volunteer Manager works closely with a dedicated team of Volunteer Coordinators to lead and support the development of volunteer services across our Hammond Care at Home portfolio.
This is permanent full-time position based at St Leonards with hybrid opportunities available.

Key Responsibilities include
- Strategic leadership, support and advice to 9 Volunteer Coordinators
- Motivating and engaging Volunteer Coordinators in relation to goals, compliance targets and monthly metrics
- Building strong relationships with Operational Managers to understand their strategic priorities and requirements and meet regularly to discuss volunteer team and opportunities for new partnerships and areas of service
- Oversight of volunteer systems ensuring frameworks and policies are adhered to
- Maximising engagement of volunteers in conjunction with Volunteer Coordinators
About You
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
- At least 2 years demonstrated experience managing a volunteer programme
- A dynamic leader who excels at managing and driving a team to achieve exceptional results
- A creative thinker with a knack for generating innovative ideas and turning them into actionable strategies
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other Volunteer Managers and key stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Strong MS Office skills
- Displays empathy and compassion
