The UHealth system at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Program and Training Coordinator.

SUMMARY

The Volunteer Program and Training Coordinator onboards and orients all new hospital volunteers (non-research) to the hospital. Moreover, the Volunteer Program and Training Coordinator builds and maintains relationships with in-house departmental supervisors, ensures on-going communication with departments who are staffed with volunteers, assumes responsibility for the needs analysis of new programs, develops recruitment and training for all programs, coordinates special events, and compiles statistical data. Reports to the AVP Integrative Health Services.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees schedules and record keeping for volunteer programs and the volunteer management system (VMS).

  • Manages on-boarding process of all new volunteers.

  • Conducts placement interviews for department placement of volunteers to ensure eligibility and proper placement.

  • Develops and facilitates department specific volunteer training.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with peer professionals.

  • Participates in local, regional, and national volunteer programs.

  • Provides support for assigned volunteers and department supervisors.

  • Assists with developing new volunteer programs and placements to meet the needs of UHealth. Facilitates the process of eligible volunteers attending physician rounds.

  • Evaluates processes, manages data input, demographic information, and generates statistical reports.

  • Supports coordination of special events.

  • Conducts monthly training and New Volunteer Orientations (NVO).

  • Organizes weekly New Sponsored Staff Orientations (NSSO). Manages volunteer email box.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                         

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
