Job Summary:

Serves as an integral part of the Volunteer Services team and supports strategies from recruitment, onboarding, orientation, placement, training, program development and implementation at all campuses in assigned region. The program manager plays a hands-on role in achieving department objectives related to participant satisfaction, program quality/impact and retention goals. S/he coordinates daily operations including team leadership, vision and general supervision of department staff and volunteers while maintaining strong internal and external relationships. The coordinator has diverse yet substantive job responsibilities that reflect the goal of providing seamless support to the guests, patients, and staff of Geisinger.

Job Duties:

  • Oversees daily operations of the Volunteer Services Department in the assigned region.
  • Develops, implements and manages department initiatives and programs.
  • Supervises staff and interns.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert on volunteer and youth shadowing programs with department staff, program participants and external partners.
  • Creates, implements and oversees a well-coordinated, synchronized recruitment, onboarding, orientation and training process for program participants that ensures compliance with all regulations and Geisinger policies.
  • Responsible for total management of staff and program participants in assigned region to include scheduling, supervision, training, education, evaluation and recognition, ensuring a high level of performance.
  • In collaboration with Geisinger Marketing and Communications, develops promotional materials for use in presentations to internal and external groups. 
  • Develops a network of internal and external partnerships including hospital department staff, community organizations, businesses, schools, universities, etc. to support program sustainability and growth.
  • Oversee and implement volunteer and youth shadowing recruitment strategies to align with programmatic needs, attends recruitment events, utilizes industry best practices and Workday software to manage the process. 
  • Performs and maintains accurate data collection.
  • Prepares and provides department, system and regulatory reports on department metrics and program statistics on a regular basis. Organizes and implements departmental events and activities. Identifies program threats/risks and recommends effective solutions.
