1.0 Permanent Workplace Health and Safety Administrator

Location: North Bay Head Office
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Facilities and Operations, the incumbent will administrate the NNDSB’s health and safety program to ensure that it is in compliance with provincial and local regulations and requirements. They will be directly responsible for administrating the NNDSB’s online health and safety records and training. They will work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist and support the Manager of Facilities and Operations with duties as assigned
- Arrange employee training; regulatory and non-regulatory
- Implement an annual health and safety training schedule
- Review, revise and update existing safety administrative guidelines and programs as required to ensure regulatory compliance and continual improvement
- Support the activities of the multi-site Joint Health & Safety Committee
- Co-ordinate accident investigation/prevention, risk management and safety awareness programs
- Liaise with internal and external working groups
- Monitor, maintain, and utilize health and safety budgets
- Manage a regional chemical and MSDS inventory (MSDSonline) and hazardous material information system (HMIS)
- Responsible for the maintenance of our reporting (eBASE) and training (SafeSchools) databases
- Acquire and maintain professional development in Health and Safety and Facilities processes/management (i.e. workplace incident investigation training, database management, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, environmental studies, or a related discipline
- Health and Safety Certification
- Certified Registered Safety Professional designation would be an asset
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle is required
Required Skills:
- Effective problem solving and process analysis skills
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks $69,762.00 annually
- Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational and communication skills
- Highly proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, knowledge in the use of current NNDSB applications: eBASE; SafeSchools; MSDSonline; and HMIS would be an asset
- Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Asbestos, WHMIS, CSA Standards, etc.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion and relate to a wide variety of people
- High energy, results driven individual
Salary: $72,730.00 annually
