Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

Inspects all incoming shipments of assigned product groups, as well as product stored in the warehouse.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Audit incoming deliveries for compliance to product specifications and receiving requirements. Document non-compliance and rejections, and inform Procurement, Quality Manager and others as needed.
  • Understand and Verify Seafood HACCP documents and program.
  • Work with Warehouse Management to monitor inventory quality.
  • Understand and Verify COOL Labeling requirements.
  • Proactively work with vendors to assure proper handling that meets Safeway expectations.
  • Assist in Training Warehouse personnel on Seafood HACCP and Receiving requirements.
  • Perform audits or evaluations to assure that Quality standards are being upheld.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team and vendors to continually improve quality.
  • Provide relief coverage for other QC staff as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred 3 – 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing or retail meat, seafood, or produce environment.
  • Working knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, and HACCP.
  • Must be self-motivated with positive attitude as well as able to handle and address changing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills required for data interpretation and analysis. Computer skills in word-processing and spread sheet software preferred.
  • Possess good communication skills, including verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to lift weights of 30 pounds or more.
  • Ability to withstand temperatures of 40 degrees or lower (frozen and perishable warehouses).

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

  • Some work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
