Camp staff assist and lead groups of campers in various camp programs and activities each day. Camp staff are responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group. Camp Staff will provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on the Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our staff are the backbone of our summer programs here at the Y. We pride ourselves on giving staff an incredible amount of support during training and throughout the summer. What qualifications do I need to have in order to be a Day Camp Counselor?
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- One (1) year experience in working with children is preferred.
- Must demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm and dedication.
- Must have experience working with youth in a group setting and creating and implementing lesson plans.
- Additionally, this person should possess the skills necessary to provide safe, appropriate and fun activities.
- Must be CPR and First Aid certified prior to the beginning of camp*
- Multilingual ability is preferred.
What qualifications to be a Day Camp Specialist?
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have 1-year experience in working with children.
- Must demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm and dedication.
- Must have experience working with youth in a group setting, and creating and implementing lesson plans.
- Additionally, s/he should possess the skills necessary to provide safe, appropriate and fun activities.
- Must be CPR and First Aid certified prior to the beginning of camp*
- Experience in area of specialty is required.
- Multilingual ability is preferred.

What are the qualifications to be a Youth Volunteers Corps (YVC) Group Lead?
- Exhibit professionalism when working with youth, parents, collaborating agencies, other YVC Team Leaders, YMCA staff and YVC program constituents.
- Supervise YVC projects, working alongside YVC participants while actively engaging them and providing meaningful connections.
- Design and incorporate structured project activities, including icebreakers, team builders, service-learning and reflection, that promote teamwork and social interaction while increasing understanding and appreciation for the cause being served.
- Act as a positive role model for YVC participants.
- Be an advocate for youth and the service they are providing.
- Attend all required YVC training, staff meetings and recognition events.
- Demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm and dedication to YVC program and participants.
