Location:  Redmond, WA

Work schedule: Full Time, Hybrid schedule: remote and in-person (Tuesdays and Thursdays onsite), Mon -Fri core business hours

The career opportunity: 

The Accounting Manager helps set the vision, direction, and culture of Hopelink’s Accounting Team and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Team under the supervision, direction, and oversight of the Controller. The Accounting Manager is a critical role; they encourage independent problem solving and a sense of ownership from others for the success of the Accounting Team. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills and an accountability mindset. 

 

What qualities we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Five or more years of experience in all aspects of accounting, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Proven leadership skills and a minimum of three or more years of previous supervisory experience. 
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Office 365, Outlook, Excel, and Word, OneNote, Teams, SharePoint, etc. 
  • Experience with nonprofit software systems a plus (Abila MIP and Microix).
  • Has a forward thinking and process improvement mindset; skilled at evaluating processes for efficiencies and experienced at implementing systems or process adjustments.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and effective financial services systems.
  • Experienced with accounting and financial systems management.

 

Examples of what you will be doing:

  • Oversee day-to-day Accounting Team, respond to and support daily needs. Provide back up support and act as second for counting cash and coin for deposit.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, assign, and evaluate the work of the Accounting Team; provide training as needed, prioritize activities; establish performance objectives.
  • Oversee, review, and approve payroll, accounts payable, and cash receipts processing and related journal vouchers.
  • Prepare assigned journal vouchers.
  • Complete assigned balance sheet account reconciliations and monthly reports.  
  • Review current processes for payroll, accounts payable, and cash receipts with intent to strengthen processes and find efficiencies.
  • Provide annual agency budget to departments as needed.
  • Responsible for assigned Statutory filings.
  • Operate independently and work under minimal supervision of Controller.
  • Establish effective working relationships within the department and throughout the organization; partner cross-departmentally. 
  • Establish and maintain effective and accurate financial systems and office practices, processes, and procedures; establish and maintain effective filing and record keeping systems.
  • Understand and execute complex accounting procedures. 

 

How you will be compensated: Hopelink is proud to provide meaningful paid time away from work and an affordable, comprehensive benefits package.

  • Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000 annually DOE
  • Up to 10 paid vacation and sick days annually and 10 paid holidays, 
  • Plus up to 7 paid float days available to use immediately; dependent on hire date and hours/week
