PRIMARY ROLE:
The AV Designer role is within the Evans Consulting Services group and provides our customers with both audio visual and technology solutions for their mission critical facilities. As part of its Turnkey Services offering, Evans engages with customers at various stages of a project including conceptual planning, detail design and implementation.
This role requires a consultative and technical approach depending on the stage of the project Evans is engaged in.
In the conceptual planning stage, this role will provide our customers with the overall vision and approach to their AV & Technology solutions within the mission critical environment. While agnostic in terms of specific solutions, the objective is to provide expertise and guidance in the various solutions and approaches depending on the operational requirements (vision), existing infrastructure and budgetary requirements. The AV & Technology Engineer will build a trusted-advisor relationship with the customer by balancing and recommending solutions that will best address the customer’s needs. In this stage, some of the key requirements are as follows:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understanding the current control room operating model and infrastructure.
The role includes reviewing solutions; from the documentation of a new solution, to the review and improvement of existing solutions.
AV Planning – High level discussions with customers about the several types of AV technology that can be used in a control room (presentation of strategic alternatives). Scope related to hardware for the audio-visual components (screens, cubes, speakers, CMS system, etc.), console monitors, office screens, cabling, conference equipment, video wall controllers etc.
Defining the operational inputs and outputs as it relates to AV & technology requirements.
Technology assessment – understanding the current technology platforms that a customer uses and how they relate to a possible Technology Solution. This relates to content management (KVM, KVM over IP, hardware-based switching, etc.), screen content management/design and control room/adjacency collaboration and control system.
Ability to review and interpret architectural building drawings from a high level.
QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient in Auto CAD / Revit programs.
Related Post-Secondary degree or diploma along with a minimum of five (3) years of Crestron, Extron and/or AMX control system experience.
Experience conducting site surveys, designing, and installing audio visual solutions.
Experience with control systems, videoconferencing, switching hardware, audio DSP setup and calibration.
Demonstrated knowledge of professional Audio/Sound systems, digital audio, video projection and display systems.
General knowledge of QSC, Audinate, Biamp audio systems and DSP’s is preferred.
This is a nice to have: Knowledgeable in networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, IP addressing, firewalls, routers, VLANs, VPN, DNS and DHCP. (On premise and virtual environments)
