The Community Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time role responsible for the effective use of short-term or episodic volunteers to drive program and event experiences. They will work collaboratively across internal teams to identify program/event needs and to make connections to individual and group volunteers as needed. The role additionally serves as a liaison on behalf of the Council, making connections in the community to volunteer groups and managing a relationship with like-minded volunteer organizations. Reporting to the STEM and Community Program Senior Manager, the role is a member of the Girl Experience team, effectively increasing the capacity of Girl Experience and related programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support a strategy that ensures the long-term viability and effectiveness of episodic volunteer structures that drive volunteer satisfaction and retention, including potential engagement of Girl Scout Alums, corporate volunteers, and other skill-based short-term volunteers.
- Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, training, retention, assignment, scheduling, tracking and recognition process for all special interest volunteers.
- Ensure technology used to support volunteer process is efficient and user-friendly.
- In collaboration across GSGATL departments, develop various processes and positions that further special interest volunteer engagement efforts.
- Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation.
- Know and be able to articulate the mission, leadership experience, key message points and brand for Girl Scouting.
- Organize Day of Service and annual volunteer recognition programming.
- Develop and maintain customer profiles, build new contacts/customers, identify and influence customer needs.
- Recommend the most efficient use of external volunteers, appropriate volunteer/staff mix, and future workforce needs to support volunteer program operations
- Maintain data on opportunities and communicate opportunities to volunteers through newsletters or other social media.
- Recruit and develop ongoing relationships with key leaders of businesses and communities in order to build a strong special interest volunteer pipeline.
- Work cross-functionally to identify special interest volunteer opportunities within the GSGATL footprint.
- Represent the council in civic and community activities and organizations as needed.
- Maintain proficiency in program and services and appropriately position our opportunities.
