Salary Range: $66,287 to $92,801 annually

Position Objective:
The Nidec Power Americas Compliance Officer shall report to the Vice President of the Defense Business and ensure the organization functions relating to Security, Trade and Defense Contracting efforts are in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Organize and implement compliance audits including conducting routine internal audits and self-assessments to verify that Trade and Defense Contracting procedures are being followed throughout the organization. Implement corrective actions when required.
- Perform or manage daily compliance risk identification, inspection and reporting.
- Develop and implement preventative measures and internal controls.
- Lead plan to obtain and maintain facility clearance.
- Manage CFIUS compliance monitoring and updates.
- Manage the visitor process including assisting with denied party screenings and issues.
- Manage CUI access for employees including auditing information and answering questions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge base and keep abreast of all changes in Trade Compliance regulations including boycotts, sanctions and tariffs.
- Ensure Trade Compliance procedures are up-to-date and consistent with US and Nidec directives. Maintain the procedures on SharePoint and verify that all responsible users have access. Resolve issues and implement corrective actions as required.
- Audit the master file of shipments for commercial invoices, bills of lading, SED, etc. Assure compliance with record retention requirements.
- Work with Human Resources and/or Training Department to establish training schedule for responsible personnel. Monitor training is completed as required.
- Support Engineering to assign HTS and ECCN classifications and verify accuracy for all parts at all levels. Train personnel on classification as required.
- Work with the NAHC FTA team to maintain and verify accuracy of all USMCA & COO certificates. Maintain data in Oracle system and CAT FTA master file.
- Conduct Broker performance evaluations on a periodic basis
- Periodically audit drop shipments to verify that they have been handled according to procedures.
- Work with Procurement and Quality Assurance to Conduct CTPAT supplier audits and internal audits, respectively.
- Work with Procurement to verify that all assists have been identified and reported and are assigned to the correct GL code.
- Serve as the point of contact for Customs and other trade regulator inquiries
Experience/Skills:
- Skilled in MS Office, ERP system (Oracle is a plus), PLM systems
- 2 - 4 years' experience in managing import/export trade compliance issues and logistics.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to manage large amount of data, customer service and facilitation skills; Ability to develop technical reports and presentation utilizing business software programs
- Must have a high degree of adaptability and the ability to respond to changing priorities
- Knowledge of various Free Trade Agreements and the certification process
- Bilingual or Trilingual (English, Spanish, French) is a plus
- Must be a U.S. Citizen for positions at the North Mankato facility
Education:
- Minimum of BS/BA in business field
