Position Summary:
The Director of Human Resources at Brevard College is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resource management, including onboarding, payroll, compliance, recruiting, and employee relations. This role plays a crucial part in aligning HR strategies with the college's mission, promoting a positive workplace culture, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This is an in-person, exempt, salaried staff position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist former and current employees with obtaining employment records including check stubs, tax documents, employment verification letters, and performance reviews.
- Collaborate with departments to create job ads for open positions and complete onboarding for new faculty and staff.
- Manage exits for employees who resign, retire, or are terminated.
- Oversee a Payroll Specialist to ensure smooth payroll operations and supervise and audit all payroll processes, including monthly, bi-weekly, and student payrolls, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Prepare reports and journal entries for annual financial and 403b audits, ensuring accurate documentation for auditors.
- Create and distribute employment letters for all employees.
- Conduct quarterly reviews with benefits broker regarding health plan performance.
- Organize annual benefits Open Enrollment and audit employee records to ensure they reflect insurance changes.
- Attend Retirement Committee Meetings to provide oversight on retirement benefits.
- Continue the transition to a newly implemented HRIS, managing the shift from paper-driven to electronic records.
- Serve as a key contact for employee benefits, communicating salary ranges to applicants during recruitment, and develop HR resources, including an HR webpage for employee reference.
- Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and support for employees.
- Plan and execute the annual Holiday and Faculty and Staff Appreciation Events to promote community and recognition within the college.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in human resources management, with a focus on compliance, payroll, and recruitment.
- Strong understanding of HRIS systems and experience with implementation preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and promote a positive workplace culture.
