Description

To perform the minor installation, repair, maintenance, and preventative maintenance of low voltage, high voltage, commercial, and residential electrical systems and provide and maintain adequate campus lighting



Responsibilities
Responsibilities Include:
  • Troubleshoots problems with electrical systems including, but not limited to distribution panels, breaker panels, switchgear, motors, compressors, controls, appliances, transformers, fire alarm panels and wiring, batteries, monitor modules, exterior campus and landscape lighting, and interior power and lighting.
  • Performs repair and replacement of the above electrical components when appropriate.
  • Performs the installation of conduit, wiring, controls, and electrical devices for new installations according to current code requirements.
  • When appropriate, and in a timely fashion, reports any deficiencies to the Supervisor of Maintenance.
  • Makes timely and accurate recommendations for repair and replacement when needed.
  • Works cooperatively with the Supervisor of Maintenance to schedule above repairs with outside vendors.
  • Works cooperatively with vendors to perform necessary repairs/replacements.
  • Reviews plans, prints, submittals, wiring diagrams, and specifications to ensure that the College receives the best products installed within current codes, industry, standards, and best practices.
  • Assists in the creation and updating of consistent Design Guidelines for application during renovations and new construction.
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Obtains and maintains records of repairs and warranties.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manages and prioritizes work order completion with thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Works cooperatively with other Facilities staff when necessary to perform any other college-related duties required by the Supervisor of Maintenance, the Superintendent of Physical Plant, and the Executive Director.


Qualifications
Qualifications Include:
  • Must possess a Master Electrician certification or ability to obtain one within the hiring process.
  • Ability to apply current building and electrical code.
  • Ability to apply sound electrical practices and display competent use of electrical tools.
  • Ability to obtain FASA/BASA certification.
  • Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform considerable physical effort, including lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds several times a day.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and to work in overhead structures as well as around and beneath machinery.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as needed and to practice safety precautions appropriately.
  • Valid state drivers license and ability to operate College truck.
  • Satisfactory work record and attendance.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills in order to serve others.
  • Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language and must be able to operate a computer.
