Engineering Lab Technician

Purpose:

The Engineering Lab Technician is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of test fixtures and equipment. The position also performs test experiments and creates test reports.

Essential Job Functions:

Conduct Engineering Test: Execute assigned tests per the prescribed test method and report findings of variance or opportunities for improvement in a timely manner. Test and test Equipment Development: Work collaboratively with managers, engineers and peers on test equipment and test method development. May include design and construction of new test equipment. Test Stand Sustainment: Develop and execute a preventative maintenance program to ensure the continued operation of production and lab test equipment. This activity could include modifying existing test stands to improve process efficiency, replacing wear components, or calibration of equipment. Operator training and assistance on test equipment is also a responsibility of the position. Test Stand Construction: Assist in the design and construction of new test equipment. Lab Support: Assist lab services in completing requested machining, electrical, or trouble shooting assignments as needed. Work on teams to design testing equipment to meet engineering or production testing requirements. Work independently to machine, fabricate, assemble, and trouble shoot testing fixtures. Perform engineering test experiments. Manage the sustainment of production test stands and improve the equipment where necessary. Support production in training new operators and provide direction to maintenance to complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc. PMS. Support lab services in completing work orders. Responsible for additional project work that will include activities to support the business. Work on teams to design testing equipment to meet engineering or production testing requirements. Ensure timely throughput of product testing through the lab work queue. Operate required test equipment and instrumentation. Analyze and verify products or processes and effectively communicate the findings and recommendations, both verbally and written. Accurately input and document analytical data into the required formats and data systems. Support investigations of production or design defects or failures as needed. Upon request participate in, improvement activities, safety committees, 5S committees, and product testing demonstrations.

Education and Experience

2 + years of experience Machining, electronics, and general fabrication experience preferred Experience or background in plumbing is a plus.

Creative & hands-on problem-solving skills Ability to work independently on assignment and troubleshoot with minimum supervision Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and work to deadlines Ability to interpret drawings
