Description

The Firm’s Sacramento office is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours) Healthcare Regulatory Affairs Paralegal to join the Firm’s healthcare practice. Our healthcare lawyers represent regional hospital systems, other hospitals, ambulatory care providers, medical foundations, healthcare management companies, physicians and physician groups, and other traditional business and healthcare clients. The Firm’s healthcare practice group brings decades of experience, technical skill, and industry knowledge to every client engagement. They often serve as general counsel to startups, established businesses, or private or public consolidators of various healthcare providers. In addition to serving a broad spectrum of healthcare clients, the Firm’s healthcare lawyers are also known for their expertise in mergers and acquisitions and business law. 


  

Primary responsibilities will include the following:

· Conduct basic to advance level legal research;

· Analysis of enrollment/licensing requirements and application processes; applications range from simple to those that would require understanding of complex organizational charts and translation into complex formats requested by agencies;

· Interface with public servants regarding pending applications. Interface must include the exercise of significant wisdom and ability to translate “client speak” into “regulator speak”; 

· Handle several detailed tasks concurrently and with ease;

· Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism, including flexibility necessary to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities;

· Translation of information needed for regulatory applications into complete, concrete, succinct, and client-friendly questions. Must be able to understand agency applications sufficiently to identify significant overlap between them, even when questions are poorly and inconsistently worded;

· Accurately and regularly enter and bill time;

· Maintenance of form documents; 

· Maintenance of client confidentiality;

· Ability to understand the interdependence upon a healthcare provider’s various regulatory entitlements, and to follow designed sequencing as a result;

· Oriented toward working both independently and as part of a team, including the ability to share information, goals, opportunities, successes and failures with appropriate parties; 

· Provide support in corporate and transactional matters, to include drafting, managing and organizing resolutions, minutes, written actions, documents related to corporate transactions, stock records, etc. 



Requirements

The qualified paralegal candidate must have a paralegal certificate or meet the requirements for being a paralegal under California’s Professional Code § 6450(c) in addition to at least four years of experience as a regulatory specialist in a related field. Corporate background is helpful. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint), Outlook and Adobe Pro is a must and familiarity with Excel preferred. Experience with the Medicare PECOS portal and Medi-Cal PAVE portal would be a significant plus.


The position requires a high level of skill in a variety of areas, including large project/document management, legal research, understanding corporate entities and structures, and interfacing with regulatory agencies. The candidate must be client-focused, organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate should be able to track ongoing projects and advance them, consistent with instructions provided, with minimal follow-up requests. 


Salary Description

$80,000 - $90,000
