Jackson Lewis P.C. has an immediate opening for a full-time, experienced Immigration Paralegal. This position will be responsible for a full nonimmigrant and immigrant caseload, including H’s, L’s, TN’s, PERM, and PERM-based I-140s and I-485s, serving as a direct contact for key clients for all immigration matters, and coordinating with attorneys and legal assistants.

The immigration paralegal will prepare and file USCIS filings and draft supporting legal letters for all types of visa petitions and applications.

Essential Functions:

  • Assisting and support immigration attorneys in the preparation and filing of immigration applications and petitions. This may include visa petitions, applications for permanent residency, naturalization applications, Adjustment of Status Applications, and/or PERM applications, depending on experience;
  • Communicating with client HR and legal representatives on case preparation and status;
  • Liaising with relevant government agencies including USCIS, CBP, US Department of State, and US Department of Labor;
  • Analyze, review and organize documents and data from materials produced;
  • Prepare/coordinate document production and responses to requests for evidence;
  • Assist attorney with gathering evidence, preparing supporting documents, preparing evidence and exhibits, and complying with procedural requirements and filing deadlines;
  • Analyze and review case details to determine future actions;
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and initiative with regard to case assignments and identify and resolve delays in process;
  • Enter time records;
  • Create new files and update client matter reports;
  • Address client case status inquiries, including processing remaining steps in filing, processing times, and consular appointment issues; and
  • Conduct ongoing case tracking and management.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Ability to manage client relationships for high-volume clients and complex projects under short deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with various technology platforms, including Microsoft Office and Immigration Case Management Software;
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written English
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Initiative, team orientation and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize assignments in a fast- paced environment
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime as necessary
  • Educational Requirements: Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree a plus
  • Paralegal Certificate a Plus

Must have 2+ years of business immigration experience, including experience with PERM and H-1Bs. Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is a plus as is experience with Immigration case management systems.
