Description

Hours: Sunday 7pm-7am and Monday-Thursday 11pm-7:30am.

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Promotes health, safety, and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Promotes the quality system through adhering to the elements of and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and procedures.
  • Experience in the following is preferred:
    • Industrial Maintenance
    • Electrical
    • PLC
    • Mechanical
    • Pneumatics
    • Hydraulic Equipment
  • Support daily plant operations through effective troubleshooting and repair of equipment, including motors and motor controls.
  • Must be knowledgeable of industrial computerized controls, PLC’s, variable speed drives, level sensors, limit switches, pressure switches, proximity sensors, photo-electric sensors, and IEC style contactors and starters.
  • Actively comply with and enforce all safety policies and procedures with direct reports and contractors. Take appropriate action to eliminate all unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Adheres to the Polyglass Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Maximizes equipment reliability by effectively performing assigned work orders and PMs. Ensures complete and effective repairs. Proactively initiates work orders based on PM observations, measurements or PdM reports.
  • Plans and schedules daily activities. Documents work completed including actions taken, conditions observed, root cause, preventative action recommendations and resources utilized including labor hours and parts. Ensures all machine repairs and/or scheduled maintenance are completed and verified and that all appropriate closing codes are used.
  • Interprets manual and computer-generated reports and suggests changes to improve the operability, reliability, and safety of assets.
  • Specifies replacement parts and requisition required repair parts.
  • Lead, train and coordinate all activities of Industrial Maintenance I & II as directed by Maintenance Supervisor
  • Manage contractors (design, engineering, labor, construction) and/or lead other engineers and technicians as assigned.
  • Coordinates operations with production, shipping, and other departments.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Skills and Knowledge required:

  • Electrical/ PLC Diagnostic and troubleshooting experience 
  • Previous experience with a Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Previous experience with CMMS System 
  • Demonstrate creativity in generating innovative ideas and creating original concepts; consistently find original solutions to a given problem.
  • Ability to reach decisions, take a thoughtful approach when considering options, seek input from others and make difficult decisions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accomplish work that requires knowledge to install new equipment or to modify an existing installation. Serve as a source of information about anything with regards to electricity.
  • Provide strong leadership, demonstrating skills in decision making, motivating others, and encouraging others; demonstrate skill in solving problems and resolving conflict.
  • Ability to step in during the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Knows the workplace inspection methods and how to recognize a dangerous situation and can provide or recommend appropriate correctives and follow-up on it.
  • Able to understand the facets, duties, and responsibilities of the job; keeps job knowledge current.
  • Shows mathematical skills, which may include the following applications:
    • Producing statistics
    • Data extraction
    • Identifying trends
    • Able to calculate numbers and amounts such as percentages, circumferences, and volumes
    • Able to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts
    • Understands various Statistical Process Controls (SPS) tools and can use them for analysis
  • Has proficient knowledge of mechanical processes and be able to perform relevant calculations and analyses to assist in operation, sizing and troubleshooting of processes and process equipment.
  • Ability to develop strong, trusting relationships with internal/external customers toward achieving Department/Customer goals. Proactively supports an atmosphere of teamwork by collaboratively meeting team goals/objectives while respectfully appreciating other team members’ viewpoints.

Computer and Software requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Siemens S5 and S7 PLC programming a plus.

Education and experience required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, plus 10 years maintenance manufacturing/Industrial Electrician experience, or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or similar field preferred.
  • Certified Electrician strongly preferred.
  • Previous metal fabrication and/or welding experience required.

Work Environment: 

  • Moderate dust.

  • Working in confined spaces.
  • Automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Hot and cold climates.
  • Must be able to work around hot asphalt tanks, lines and pumps constantly.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing 8 – 12 hours a day.
  • Lifting up to 120 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs often and ladders periodically.
  • Ability to work shift work.
  • Visual Acuity (including color perception).
  • Good Hearing.
