The Inside Sales Representative is a crucial part of MPH’s sales team and is a key aspect of effectively serving our customers.


Responsible for performing sales activities within a defined territory in coordination with other staff assigned to that territory. The Inside Sales Representative (ISR) shall promote sales of products in the designated territory through telephone calls, emails, and targeted mailings. The ISR will develop professional relationships with decision-makers at customer locations, qualify sales leads, close small orders, and set up appointments for other sales team members.


BROAD FUNCTION

 

Responsible for performing sales activities within a defined territory in coordination with other staff assigned to that territory. The Inside Sales Representative (ISR) shall promote sales of products in the designated territory through telephone calls, emails, and targeted mailings. The ISR will develop professional relationships with decision-makers at customer locations, qualify sales leads, close small orders, and set up appointments for other sales team members.  


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Develop and communicate comprehensive technical solutions based on the client’s needs, schedule, project timeline, or budget.

  • Negotiate the terms of sale, including product specifications and/or configurations, onsite services (e.g., installation and implementation), delivery expectations, training, warranty service contracts, and price.

  • Prospect potential customers in assigned territory to uncover sales opportunities, identify potential customer needs, and develop a foundation for future opportunities.

  • Develop and maintain a Sales Pipeline and a two-month territory schedule.

  • Qualify, manage, and close sales opportunities.

  • Develop a solid working knowledge of competitive products.

  • Accurately document customer communications and activity details in sales database (company CRM of choice) software program.

  • Other duties are assigned as needed.

  • Work with other sales staff and marketing to prepare sales forecasts for the territory.

  • Prepare special reports as directed.

Skills



  • Demonstrated success in navigating the sales life cycle by effectively prospecting, understanding buying behaviors, conducting needs analysis, communicating value, negotiating, overcoming objections, and closing the sale.

  • The ISR must be able to communicate features, benefits, and product value effectively.

  • Must be able to execute a daily plan to maximize account development and retention strategies, manage the sales pipeline, and utilize professional solutions based selling techniques.

  • Able to develop accurate quotations, which include customer expectations, solution specifications and configuration, delivery requirements, billing requirements, and budget constraints.

  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and can work with minimal supervision.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

  • Must possess excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School or GED diploma.

  • Previous sales experience preferred.

  • High degree of self-discipline and a desire to succeed. 

  • Computer skills in word processing, Excel spreadsheets, sales customer management databases.

  • Solid written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience working with government or public safety agencies, preferred.
