JOB PURPOSE

 

Prudent American is a high-volume firearm manufacturing company. We are looking for a Machine Operator II with an emphasis on experience with Swiss CNC and Multi-axis turning centers.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Experience utilizing inspection equipment not limited to – Micrometers, Pin/Bore gauges, and Calipers.
  • Maintain high levels of efficiency and time utilization.
  • Maintain a high level of quality.
  • Know all functions of the machine tool to include tool replacement at all assigned machines.
  • Acquire the permissions on the CNC machine authorization for tool changes and clearing and resetting of machine alarms.
  • Good understanding of tooling applications to include standard and form cutting tools.
  • Complete knowledge of all aspects of the Laser measurement devices and / or the use of the MDI program for tool replacements and tool touch offs.
  • Understand the difference between geometry and wear offsets.
  • Acquire the permissions on the CNC machine authorization for tool offsets.
  • Understand the concept of machine offsets.
  • Follow good safety habits and the company’s safety guidelines.
  • Assist in other areas of the facility as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least five years of maintenance experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
  • Extensive knowledge of CNC machines and auxiliary equipment 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules. 
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • 1-2 years previous machining experience necessary, or a completed VO-Tech machine tool course.
  • Should consider a basic blueprint reading course and/or a geometric tolerancing and dimensioning course at a local VO-Tech or similar type of school.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Must be able to work in the following work environment:
  • Moderate noise levels from machinery.
  • Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
  • Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
  • Skin exposed to oils and cutting fluids.

Must wear personal protection equipment as required including, but not limited to, hearing protection, non-slip shoes, safety glasses. All offers are contingent upon successfully passing a background check and drug screen.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Must be able to move and transport 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
  • Must be able to maintain a stationary position for the entire shift.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulders, and rotate torso 60% of the shift.
