The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing, maintaining equipment, physical structures, plumbing and electrical systems throughout LCMC. Provides onsite support of the nurse call system and fire alarm systems. Performs required fire drills throughout the facility and ensures proper documentation.
Your every day
- Performs general repairs and trouble-shooting in assigned areas:
- Takes the initiative to locate, document and repair unreported equipment/building discrepancies.
- Performs daily preventive maintenance inspections/repairs in assigned areas, including all task related documentation:
- Performs electrical safety checks in patient rooms.
- Performs repairs/safety checks on non-patient equipment.
- Investigates maintenance requests.
- Investigates maintenance requests:
- Demonstrates effective judgement and decision making skills by thoroughly investigating all maintenance request before seeking referral to other crafts..
- Assures all work done by other crafts is completed in assigned areas:
- Takes ownership of assigned area by monitoring others are working in the area to assure completeness of all repairs.
- Enters supply rooms on nursing units as needed to perform necessary job functions.
- Refrains from manipulating or removing any intravenous fluids that are stored in the area.
- Demonstrates dependability:
- Works with other crafts to accomplish required tasks and ensures open lines of communication to complete tasks in a successful manner.
- Patient Safety/ Fire Life Safety:
- Strong knowledge of life safety, patient safety and infection prevention measures pertaining to craft trades. General knowledge of hospital operations. Inspects fire/smoke rated doors and wall partitions for compliance with NFPA standards. Conducts routine environmental and safety rounds.

Your must haves
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic/Technician or related area.
- Experience in a clinical/hospital setting preferred.
- Required: Bachelor's Degree from an approved trade or vocational school with courses in mathematics, blueprint reading and mechanical drawing or have its equivalent in work experience
- Operates hand tools, power tools, equipment and electrical testing equipment requiring manual dexterity.
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions, schematic drawings and layouts.
- Utilize computer, printer, copier, telephone, calculator, cell phone and 2-way radios.
- Ability to work alternative/shift work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime hours.
- Experience with computer maintenance management software
- Certification Name: 1st Class Stationary Engineer License EPA certification
