JOB SUMMARY: Demonstrate excellent representation of the aquarium at all times through a positive, can-do attitude and teamwork focused work ethic.
Perform a variety of facility projects and repairs utilizing construction and maintenance skills. Under supervision, perform materials handling, equipment operation and equipment repair. Assist in obtaining project bids as directed and procuring project materials.
Minimum Job Requirements: Must be willing to consistently provide guest service above and beyond expectation.
· A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in general building trades and finish carpentry, or equivalent experience.
· Basic knowledge of building systems, and experience maintaining and troubleshooting related equipment desired.
· Working knowledge of Office programs (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) desired.
· Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
· Must be available to work nights, weekends and off –hours on special projects.
· Multilingual; Spanish speaking preferred.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Perform routine inspections of building structures, including walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs, to identify any signs of damage or wear.
- Repair or replace damaged drywall, plaster, or other wall materials as needed to maintain a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment.
- Paint interior and exterior surfaces as necessary to maintain a fresh and attractive appearance.
- Perform minor carpentry work, such as repairing or replacing doors, windows, and molding.
- Demonstrate competence in fabrication utilizing a wide range of materials, including but not limited to plastics, fiberglass, metals, and specialized products, ensuring versatility and adaptability in construction and repair tasks.
- Assist in the construction, maintenance, and refurbishment of aquarium exhibits to uphold integrity and aesthetics.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plumbing fixtures such as toilets, sinks, and faucets to prevent leaks and water damage.
- Compile comprehensive materials lists for projects and diligently track associated costs as instructed.
- Provide prompt and professional responses to service calls from other departments, addressing their needs efficiently and courteously.
- Perform minor repairs on furniture and fixtures, such as tightening screws or replacing hardware.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance storage areas and equipment.
- Assist with snow removal and salting of walkways and parking areas during inclement weather.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down equipment for special events or exhibits held in the aquarium.
- Inspect and maintain exterior walkways, parking lots, and landscaping to ensure safety and attractiveness.
- Execute all assigned tasks with a steadfast commitment to professionalism and safety, adhering strictly to established protocols.
- Adhere to the aquarium's uniform policy, maintaining a polished and presentable appearance at all times while on duty.
Safety/Security
- All employees are responsible for working in a safe manner at all times.
- Every employee must properly use, and keep in good order, all personal protective equipment (PPE) supplied to them as protection from recognized hazards.
- Every employee must report any unsafe condition
- Every employee must have a working knowledge of all Facility wide, and Department specific, safety procedures that relate to their position, including, but not limited to: Emergency Evacuation, Lockdown Procedure, and Fire Extinguisher Use.
