At Chromalox, part of Spirax Group, we build advanced thermal technologies for the world’s most challenging industrial heating applications. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we do it better and have been doing it longer than anyone else.
The Role:
Reporting to the Manager of Design Engineering, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions that meet client requirements and industry standards. As a Design Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, manufacturing engineers, and quality assurance, to ensure the successful implementation of design projects.
You will conduct engineering studies on design for products, associated and subsystem components, and structures while reviewing engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data of design. The Design Engineer position is vital to the business and will partner with cross-functional stakeholders and departments across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes.
- Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design for products, equipment, machines, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
- Creates and releases Engineering Drawings, Bills of Material (BOM’s), ASME calculations and Routings.
- Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposal; analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
- Develops custom procedures as needed.
- May determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
- Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design, design modifications as required.
- Prepares or directs preparations of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics; coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
